Changing the Way We Eat…

When TED talks, the world listens. Started twenty five years ago, this non-profit organization devoted to ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’ has now become a global and internet phenomenon.  But they’ve not only grown larger, TED has also been smart enough to grow more local with specific, independent programs designated as TEDx, which is a system of ‘local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.’

We were intrigued by the latest program run by our regional chapter, TEDx Manhattan.  It was

an all day event featuring live speakers, videos, and group discussion devoted to topics concerning sustainable food and the organization of farms supporting that movement.  Entitled ‘Changing the Way We Eat’, this entire seminar is available to watch online.  Though it runs close to eight hours long, there’s a lot to pick and choose from.  One of our favorites was this speech given by Top Chef Judge Tom Colicchio on the topic of Vote Food…

But words are meanin

gless without action, which is why we especially appreciated how the conference presented ten specific steps towards sustainability which all of us can follow.  Just click on this link for that insightful list:  Change the Way You Eat    If you’d prefer to shop around for more free videos and other topics discussed during this event, then check out their official web site for a multitude of options:  TEDx Manhattan
