The Stars Amongst Our Staff

While it is not polite to brag it sure is fun. When it comes to sharing the personal accomplishments of Neuman’s Kitchen team members we enjoy taking you behind the scenes to learn about the range and depth of their creative endeavors.

RobertWe are a motley crew – actors, teachers, journalists, musicians, artists, poets and drag queens. The tapestry of our passions and skills contribute to making us the most inspired catering company in town.

This month’s spotlight features Robert Skelly, our senior event manager celebrating seven years of service to Neuman’s Kitchen clients. (Crowd goes wild and gives Robert a standing ovation.)

While Robert is most often seen at his client’s events you can also see him in two recent Hollywood blockbusters: He is a featured actor with a small part in The Wolf of Wall Street and an extra in The Dark Knight Rises.

In his after-hours work he has worked in close quarters with Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, and Christopher Nolan. Here’s a peek at Robert in action: first his headshot, then playing the police officer leading the charge (bottom right hand corner) in Dark Knight Rises and finally as a jubilant stockbroker mid-screen in Wolf of Wall Street.

But with fame comes risk. In filming the action sequence in Dark Knight Rising over 70 cast members required hospital treatment for a variety of injuries. Luckily, Robert was the only person in the front line of the charge not wearing padding and only had a collection of bruises, aches, and marks as souvenirs from his thrilling experience. He’s a lot tougher than your average event planner.

Robert’s interests extend beyond his on-screen accomplishments – he is also a co-founder and director of marketing for the Williamsburg Independent Film Festival which showcases short, documentary and full-length films from emerging artists.

Having completed its fifth season last fall, the festivals growing success is a testament to what Robert describes as ‘the independent spirit of film which has migrated from Manhattan to Brooklyn’. Mark your calendar for next November. See you at the festival. And keep a sharp eye out for Robert in the movies – you never know when he might make another appearance.
