A Lively Source of Learning…

Learning is not only fundamental to our continued success; it’s also one of the most enjoyable parts of our job.  And there’s no classroom setting more fun than that playground in the desert otherwise known as Las Vegas, which is where three of our team members spent last week while attending the 2014 Catersource Conference & Tradeshow.  Hosted at Paris Las Vegas, this annual event featured a gathering of 7,000 catering and event professionals from across the world, but none attired quite as en vogue as our representative trio of Jennifer (Client Services Coordinator), Liza (Events Manager), and Yamit (Director of Staff Operations).  Take a look for yourself:

In-between photo shoots, these three teammates also attended a variety of classes covering topics such as Don’t Be Satisfied with Mediocre (hiring and motivating top level staff), The True Value of a Caterer’s Time (wasted seconds lead to wasted dollars), and The Science & Art of Gluten-Free Cooking.  Along with nearly 90 educational sessions to choose from, The Conference presented a series of main stage speakers – such as Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli and Wedding Expert David Tutera – as well as a two day Tradeshow featuring 500 vendors and sponsors premiering cutting-edge innovations in Catering products and services.

There’s no better place for Networking but, of course, no better city for entertaining diversions as our tireless triad managed to sneak in some nighttime dancing, a little bit of casino action, and a Cirque du Soleil Show.  Returning back to NYC with full minds and sore feet, they also carry the spirit of the closing remarks made by the iconic Peter Callahan who reminded them to “go back to the same things and do them in different ways.”  Visit the Catersource website for more details about the organization’s variety of services, official magazine, or the upcoming conference ‘The Art of Catering Food’ to be held this August in Atlanta.
