Cronut

Well, I finally got my hands on a cronut.

For those of you who may not have heard, cronuts were invented by Dominique Ansel and their arrival has caused the largest media stir since the appearance of Anthony Weiner’s pretzel rod. A cronut was the first piece of pastry ever featured on CNN’s Piers Morgan Live. Imagine that.

So how was it? I have to admit that the tiny bite I had (fifteen of us shared two) was quite good. Worth a two hour wait on line? I don’t think so.

A year from now the cronut or a poor imitation will likely be made in every pastry shop from New York to Beijing.

In the meantime hats off to Chef Ansel for figuring out how to keep the world’s attention focused on a piece of pastry.
