doughnutAs if life wasn’t sweet enough on Fridays, National Doughnut Day will steal the attention of dessert-lovers everywhere on Friday, June 5th.

How will we be partaking in the festivities? We thought you’d never ask.

Introducing: The Pork Belly Doughnut.

What started as a practical joke, became a delicious sensation for our Executive Sous Chef, Adam Starowicz, on his journey to perfect this iconic dessert. It all began in the heart of the Financial District when Chef Adam came to the realization that there was no greater love in the world than that of a dreamily fried doughnut.

At the time, Adam was experimenting with vegan dessert menu items without avail. When the herbivorous doughnut covered in coconut fat and individualism didn’t meet his standards, it was time to change culinary directions… entirely.

One driving force of determination, four years, and 100 faulty recipes later the scent of the very first pork belly doughnut filled the streets of downtown Manhattan, unannounced but warmly welcomed.

Imagine a piece of soy miso pork belly sandwiched in between grilled doughnut halves with a sultry crispy exterior topped with toasted coconut. Morning fare or midnight snack, the Belly Doughnut is the best calorie investment on National Doughnut Day. (We promise!)
